August Special Offer
$20 St. Gaudens PCGS MS63 Dated 1914-S
Quantity Available: 95 Now 55 SOLD OUT

Rationale:  Mint Marked 'S' San Francisco - Rarer/Better Date -  $10 less than common MS63 St's.

  • All coins dated 1914-S.  According to PCGS, there are only 6953 known 1914-S dated coins in Mint State 63 versus 92,264 1924's and 45,363 1908 No Motto's (the two most common dates).  Put another way, the 1914-S dated coins are 13x and 6.5x as rare as the two most common Saint Gaudens dates respectively.
  • Fantastic opportunity to own 'mint-marked' St. Gaudens - broadly speaking, branch mints (San Francisco and Denver for the St. Gaudens series), produced far fewer coins annually than the main mint facility in Philadelphia (no mint-mark).  As such, mint-marked St. Gaudens are highly coveted, substantially harder to locate and typically command hefty premiums.  Needless to say, when this deal surfaced at the same price as a common dated coins, we were all over it.
  • And to sweeten the deal even more, we are offering these at a $10 per coin discount to our published pricing for common date coins, representing a premium to spot gold of just 14.85%, which is within 2% of the lowest premiums ever seen for MS63 $20 St. Gaudens.
  • All coins in matching PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) Holders.

Historical Note:

The San Francisco Mint was opened in 1854 to process gold from the California Gold Rush into gold coin.  It moved to a new facilty in 1874, which became know as the 'Granite Lady'.  As one of the few buildings to survive the massive 1906 earthquake and the fires that followed, it remained in operation until 1937.  So it was at this facility that these 1914-S St. Gaudens were struck.
